Biblical Foundations for a God-Blessed Church
I. An Emphasis on Redemption through Jesus Christ springing up from a doxological (glory to God) worldview and philosophy of life. (I Timothy 1:15-17; I Corinthians 10:31; I Corinthians 2:2)
II. Confidence in the Bible Interpreted Properly (consider contexts) as sufficient to deal with every core human need (encouragement, instruction, warning, etc.) (Jeremiah 29:1-14; 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 1:1-2; Revelation 22:18-19; Luke 4:4)
III. A Gift-Based Ministry where members enjoy praying for each ministry, remain flexible in service, but are uniquely satisfied to the point of excelling in special capacities. (Hebrews 12:1-3; I Corinthians 12:14; Ephesians 4:11-13)
A. Organization is project oriented, not personal. There is organization in the Trinity, yet unity and equality. God ordains organization in marriage and the church to maintain proper functions. B. Every believer is commanded to use his gift (I Peter 4:10), not primarily for self but for the edification of others (I Peter 4:10b). The OT model of major distinction between laity and clergy should not be imposed on the NT Church (I Peter 2:5, 9-10). The temple veil has been torn asunder, Christ Jesus is the only mediator, and we are all priests (I Timothy 2:5).
IV. A Spirit of Love and Harmony through thankful, contented spirits. Leaders must demand Biblical communication and model patience, servant leadership, and peacemaking as marks of genuine love. (Ephesians 4:24-32; Ephesians 5:18-21; 1 Peter 4:8, I Corinthians 13; Luke 22:26)
